Top 14: (still) unable to win in

Stade Toulousain has not won in since April 2019, and this trip still promised to be difficult for the Rouge et Noir this Saturday evening in Tarn. At 9:05 p.m., the two teams met again on the 5th day of the Top 14 rugby, and the match ended up going to the advantage of Castres Olympique (28-23).

However, the Rouge et Noir quickly took the upper hand at the start of the match with a try from Thomas Ramos in the eighth minute, converted by himself (0-7). A few minutes later the CO reduced the score with a penalty from Louis Lebrun (3-7), before scoring a try by Santiago Arata, not converted (8-10).

With a new penalty in the 25th minute, Thomas Ramos gives some breathing room (8-13), but Louis Lebrun also scores on his side following a Toulouse foul (11-13).

Very quickly, Toulouse regained the upper hand with a second try scored by Peato Mauvaka, and transformed by Thomas Ramos (11-20).

The people of Tarn don’t give up

But the Tarnais never admit defeat, and in the second half they get closer to Toulouse again with a converted try in the 50th minute (18-20).

Then they put Stade Toulousain under pressurefollows a missed penalty by Louis Lebrun and a forward from Blair Kinghorn. The Tarnais show that they are the strongest during the scrum that follows, five meters from the line, to the point of shifting Louis Lebrun, who scores a try on the right, before converting it (25-20). Which allows the CO to take control for the first time since the start of the match.

With a new penalty, the score becomes larger for Castres Olympique: 28-20. And the task then becomes impossible for Stade Toulousain, reduced to 14 players after Dorian Aldegheri’s yellow card in the 66th minute. Even if hope was reborn two minutes from the end with a penalty from Thomas Ramos (28-23).

Toulouse leaves Tarn with the defensive bonus pointbut will have to wait again before breaking this cycle of five years without a victory at Pierre-Fabre.
