Padirac: a man sets fire to his house by accident while carrying out work

The consequences could have been tragic. This Saturday, around noon, a house located in Padirac, at a place called Lacoste, caught fire. The cause would be accidental. According to our information, its owner, a 58-year-old man, was carrying out work on his house. An error in handling a blowtorch is believed to be the cause of this fire which devastated this 150 m2 house.

The owner unhurt

The first floor and the attic were particularly affected, and the ground floor partially. The owner had time to get out so as not to be hit by the flames or be poisoned by the smoke. He was unharmed and was not taken to hospital for possible examinations.

On site, 25 firefighters, from Saint-Céré, Gramat, Martel, Bretenoux and Sousceyrac-en-Quercy, were mobilized. In particular, they had to use four fire hoses to control the fire.
