The Parisian honors the actor with a photo of Michel Blanc smiling, and draws “From laughter to tears”. Le Figaro reserves a portion of its front page for a sober photo of the actor, and headlines “Michel Blanc, laughter and melancholy”.

The cause of the 72-year-old actor’s death is known. Michel Blanc died from anaphylactic shock. This is an extremely violent allergic reaction, which causes a drop in blood pressure which can lead to death. This outcome is, however, rare, since it only occurs in 0.3% of cases, according to Elsan, a group of French private hospitals. For Michel Blanc, anaphylactic shock also caused “angioedema”, another allergic reaction which has the characteristic of causing swelling that can obstruct the airways to the point of asphyxiation.

According to a medical source within the AP-HP, the actor suffered from back pain, and his doctor had prescribed a renal ultrasound, a non-intrusive road test that does not require an injection of contrast product, details the newspaper. Michel Blanc would rather have had an allergic reaction to antibiotic treatment, followed in the context of a suspected kidney infection.
The actor then died in intensive care, after his sixth cardiac arrest.

In tribute to Michel Blanc, who died during the night from Thursday to Friday, France 2 broadcast “I find you very beautiful”, a film by Isabelle Mergault with the actor in the main role. According to Pure Media, 5.17 million viewers were in front of their screens to watch this film, or 29.1% of the public aged 4 and over. France 2 is the leader in prime time. The 2nd, TF1, had 2.38 million viewers.
“I find you very beautiful”, released in 2006, won the César for best first film, and Michel Blanc was nominated for the César for best actor.
