Mini lowers the prices of its electric cars, taking inspiration from Tesla

Good news, Mini electric cars are seeing their prices decrease in . The reason: the brand is moving to an agency sales model, thereby eliminating the dealership intermediary. An idea already present at Tesla. Here are their new prices.

Do the Mini Cooper, Mini Aceman and Mini Countryman catch your eye? Good news, they are all cheaper since October 1, 2024.

A drop which has nothing to do with the car itself, but rather thanks to a change in Mini’s sales strategy in France, as detailed in a press release.

A direct sale

After testing it in Italy, Poland, Sweden, Norway and Finland, Mini is introducing the new agency model in France. In other words, the brand sells cars directly to the customer, without going through dealerships – while keeping the current network.

This system is inspired by what has always been done at Tesla, for example. And as with Tesla, the benefits are numerous for the customer. Online sales are now made easier, additional costs (engraving, start-up costs, fuel, etc.) are now included in the sales price… while the latter are falling.

Falling prices

Because yes, all Minis see their prices drop with this model change. And the discounts are sometimes generous:

The Mini Cooper E appears like this at 30 650 euros (-3,350 euros), while the SE version, with a larger engine and a larger battery, goes to 34,450 euros (-3,550 euros). Its SUV version, the Aceman, follows the same path. Its version E is displayed at 33 550 euros (-2,450 euros) and its SE version at 37,350 euros (-2,650 euros).

This is enough to reposition these two cars against the Renault 5 E-Tech and Alpine A290, even if the absence of ecological bonus, because of their production in China, could cost them some customers.

As for the big Countryman, its E version is now available from 39 150 euros (- 4,850 euros), and its SE ALL4 version (all-wheel drive) goes to 44,150 euros (-5,350 euros). This latest version therefore officially drops below 47,000 euros, enough to give it access to ecological bonus of 4,000 euros – just like the Countryman E, obviously.

In short, a commercial strategy that seems to be a win-win for the customer. The press release finally announces that BMW will move to this agency system in 2026.
