New signs have been installed at the entrances to Ploërmel (Morbihan). The opportunity to display the municipality’s commitment to renewable energiesincluding local production of green gas.

For several years, the town of Ploërmel has contributed to the decarbonization of its territory by notably supporting the establishment of a methanization site. This commitment to renewable energies has resulted in the installation of city entrance signs.

Ploërmel: the town served with natural gas since 1989

Since 1989, the town of Ploërmel has been served with natural gas. To date, 1,700 pavilions and municipal buildings are connected to the 65 km of GRDF network supplying different districts of the city.

And, since 2019, a agricultural methanization unit located on the territory of the municipality allows the production of renewable gas. This is injected into the main pipeline managed by the main natural gas distributor in the country.

Planned in the town of Taupont, a new methanization site should make it possible, from 2025, to cover 28% of the town’s annual consumption.
