The affair had moved the whole of France. On the night of July 12 to 13, 2024, in Saint-Martin-de-l’If (Seine-Maritime), between Rouen and Le Havre, Célya, a 6-year-old girl, was found dead in a wood after having been removed.
The kidnapping alert was triggered on Friday evening, her mother having reported the disappearance of the little girl. The main suspect, the companion of Célya’s mother and stepfather, was quickly arrested. He is also suspected of stabbing the child’s mother.
At the end of his police custody, the forty-year-old had been “involuntarily hospitalized” because of “delusional statements”. He had been treated at the Rouvray hospital center since mid-July.

Hospitalized at the CH du Rouvray
Célya’s stepfather was indicted for “murder of a minor under 15 years of age”, “kidnapping of a minor under 15 years of age” and “attempted murder of a spouse”. According to information from Paris-Normandy which West France is able to confirm, the accused has been placed in pre-trial detention since September 26, 2024. He remains hospitalized at the Rouvray CH, due to his state of health, the Rouen prosecutor’s office confirms.
