Montrollet and Mosnac-Saint-Simeux are the only two municipalities in Charente with the APIcité label but with very different operations. Montrollet, with the help of the Haut-Vienne association L’Arbre et l’Abeille de Javerdat chaired by Christian Vigneron, works around a municipal apiary and orchards while Mosnac-Saint-Simeux has made the choice with the The Apiviti association sows honey plants in fallow vineyard plots to improve biodiversity and provide the bees with substantial and varied food, allowing them to live well in wine-growing country.
During a walk, despite the weather not being conducive to bee foraging, Christian Vigneron, president of L’Arbre et l’Abeille, accompanied by two members of his association, Claude and Marie-Thé Desvergnes, shared with visitors the approach initiated by Monteirolles elected officials and the collective of citizens.
“Delivered three years ago, our APIcité label is coming to an end. The renewal request has been made and we hope to land a third bee,” says Benoît Savy, before announcing that the exchanges will continue in 2025, in the spring in the village at the highest point of the Charente and in the fall in Mosnac-Saint-Simeux.
