Romain Grandjacques died at his home on September 25 in his 97e year, eighth of a family of nine children.
With his wife Edwige he founded a beautiful family of five children. A busy working life helping on his parents’ farm, then he continued farming in Domancy. Farmer and double active in carpentry and innovator in the creation of gîtes to accommodate vacationers, Romain loved contact and talking with everyone.
Romain actively participated in the life of the commune as a municipal councilor: volunteering at the village festival, for float parades, helping at the refreshment bar. For more than thirty years, he enjoyed playing belote, outings and traveling with the Rencontre de Domancy club.
Throughout his retirement, he continued to help with farm work alongside his son and lend a hand to his children. The family grew with the arrival of 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren who were welcomed with joy. A long family life, with 73 years of marriage, full of joy and sorrow, with the death of his son Philippe.
On September 30, a large crowd came to pay homage to him. With his departure, the memory of the town is gone.
