Death of Kylian Binard. Man in police custody indicted and imprisoned for murder

The Caen (Calvados) public prosecutor’s office confirmed this mardi 1^is October 2024 the indicted for murder of the 24-year-old young man arrested on September 29 after the death of a 17-year-old Saint-Lois, stabbed during a brawl outside a nightclub in Subles (Calvados) involving two groups of individuals.

Temporary worker in construction

The suspect, “temporary in the building, whose the clothes and hands were bloody”was arrested on the spot shortly after the brawl, said the public prosecutor from Caen, Joël Garrigue, in a press release.

THE gendarmes of the Caen research section and the Bayeux research brigade heard more than thirty witnesses to try to shed light on this matter.

THE CCTV footage of the night establishment were also seized by the investigators who had to establish the circumstances of the altercation.

Several stab wounds

The young man had “been seen, by certain witnesses, picking up a knife which was found in his pocket” confides the prosecution.

The victimKylian Binard, aged 17 and a half, had then received “several stab wounds which left him affected in the back and cervical area » during a brawl involving around twenty people and having broken out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. near the Octavia nightclub.

Emergency services tried to revive him on the spot. The teenager died of his injuries at 7:44 a.m.

First explanations

“After denying any involvement in the death of the victim,” the suspect “explained during his police custody that he had initially tried to intervene in the fight which took place in front of the nightclub,” specifies the Caen prosecutor’s office. He then received “ punches et gas jets tear gas ».

“Without being able to explain the reasons for his action, he finally admitted having taken the knife, having unfolded the blade and having struck the first person in front of him with this weapon, without intending to kill according to his statements,” adds the prosecutor of the Republic which does not indicate whether the suspect was heavily alcoholic and/or under the influence of drugs.

A judicial information was opened for murder. Returned at the end of his police custody, the young man was placed in pre-trial detention. The penalty incurred is 30 years of criminal imprisonment.
