Queen Elizabeth II suffered from bone cancer before her death, says Boris Johnson

In his memoirs which will be published in the coming days, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson claims that Queen Elizabeth II suffered from bone cancer before her death in September 2022.

“I had known for a year or more that she was suffering from a form of bone cancer, and her doctors feared that at any moment she would experience a precipitous decline,” Mr. Johnson wrote in an excerpt from his published book in the “Daily Mail”.

By making this revelation, the man who served as Prime Minister from 2019 to 2022 would become the first high-ranking British official to give an indication of the Queen’s cause of death other than “old age” indicated on her death certificate.

Boris Johnson also returned to the last days of Elizabeth II at Balmoral, Scotland, being one of the last to see her when he went to announce his resignation two days before her death, as required by the protocol.

Upon his arrival at the Scottish residence, the monarch’s private secretary, Edward Young, welcomed the outgoing prime minister, revealing to him that the queen’s health had deteriorated over the summer, according to the memoirs which will appear next October 10.

“She appeared pale and more hunched over, and she had dark bruises on her hands and wrists, probably from drips or injections,” he said.

However, the one who had also been mayor of London affirmed that she had in no way lost her spirit.

“From time to time, during our conversation, she always showed this big white smile, suddenly beautiful and soothing,” he described.

Throughout his mandate, Boris Johnson had the “privilege” of meeting the Queen during weekly audiences to report on the situation in the country.

“She exuded such an ethic of service, patience and leadership that you truly felt like you would die for her if necessary,” he said.

With this release, the former prime minister broke one of the rules of royal protocol of not indicating information about members of the crown. Queen Elizabeth II had never published about her state of health.
