Renaissance will debate its congress on Thursday in the executive office

Renaissance will hold an executive office on Thursday evening dedicated to the preparation of its congress, while Elisabeth Borne is the only declared candidate for head of the party, pending possible competition from Gabriel Attal. According to Renaissance statutes, the party must hold a congress before November 30.

Elisabeth Borne has already declared herself a candidate to succeed Stéphane Séjourné for the position of general secretary. The only candidate, Stéphane Séjourné, was elected to this position in September 2022, during the transformation of the La République en Marche party into Renaissance.

“The new page that opens for our party will reflect either the risk of our disappearance, or unity and renewal”for his part recently declared the former prime minister in an interview with Point. “A party is made for thinking, and I hope that the production of new ideas becomes our driving force again. It’s also done to win elections. Our party must therefore once again inspire desire, keep the debate alive, embody a desire to conquer, to once again become the center of gravity of political life”he added.

According to the party’s statutes, the general secretary is elected for three years by the members of the national council, the party’s parliament. Members will have to elect 150 members of the national council who will have the right to vote, as well as members of the executive office, the presidents of the departmental assembly and the members of the office of the assembly of the party’s territories.
