Before the second day of the Champions League, Stade Brestois would have a 48.3% chance of qualifying

Champions League (2nd day). RB Salzburg – Stade Brestois, Tuesday (6:45 p.m.)

With three points on the clock, acquired after its historic victory against Sturm Graz (2-1), Stade Brestois currently occupies 13th place in the Champions League standings. Or as many as Bayern Munich (1st), Real Madrid (9th) or Saint-Germain (15th), all three contenders for the final title.

At least eight points scored?

If the club from the tip of Finistère does not aspire to play in the final of the competition, scheduled for Saturday May 31 in Munich, the statistics are far from burying one of the “Little Thumb” of the 36 teams entered. According to Opta’s supercomputer, which has recorded more than 50,000 simulations, Stade Brestois’ chances of reaching at least the play-offs stand at 48.3%, before the start of the second day of the league phase.

Those of appearing among the first eight teams, qualified directly for the round of 16, would on the other hand be only 3.3%. In total, Stade Brestois would have more than a one in two chance of collecting eight points (55.2%), and a 43.9% chance of reaching nine points. This provisional estimate is likely to change drastically after the second day, which sees the Brestois move onto the Salzburg pitch (31st, 0 points).
