A N3 team on the ground, the last survivors of D1 and four goals in 70 minutes for a player from La Montagne, what we must remember from the fourth round of the Coupe de France in Brittany played on September 28 and 29.
Coupe de France (4th round)
The US Fougères (N3) falls in Côtes-d’Armor
After the elimination of three N3 teams for their entry into the running in the previous round (Paotred-Dispount, Pontivy, Plabennec), it was US Fougères which fell by the wayside on Sunday. The Bretillians, who faced Plaintel (R2) in Côtes-d’Armor, took the door at the end of the penalty shootout (1-1, 3-2 on the tabs).
Still in Côtes-d’Armor, Lannion (N3) had better luck on the pitch of Ploumagoar (R2), after a goal from the penalty spot at the very end of the match (89′). The path was easier on Sunday for the N2 teams (Stade Briochin, Dinan Léhon, Saint-Malo, St-Co Locminé) and the other N3 teams.
There are only five District clubs left
The meetings follow one another, the jerseys have been distributed and five District clubs will finally see the 5th round of the Coupe de France in Brittany!
The exploits of the day are to the credit of Espérance de Rennes (D1), who took out US St-Grégoire after an interminable penalty shootout (2-2; 12-11 on the tabs), and RC Dinan (D1), winner of Loudéac OSC (3-2).
Huge performance also from Plouagat-Châté-Lanrodec (D1) against Plouguerneau (R3) (1-1, 3-0 on the tabs) and great performance from Combourg (D1) against Erquy (R3), winner on the smallest of margins (1-0). Finally, in a 100% D1 meeting which raised many hopes, Plogastel dominated Calan to advance to the next round (3-1).
Some regrets unfortunately for Plougonvelin (D1), eliminated by Uzel Merléac (R3) after the penalties (1-1, 4-5 on the tab).
The day of grace of Souaré
He is undoubtedly the man of this 4th round of the Coupe de France in Brittany. In a 100% R1 meeting between Séné and La Montagne (1-4), Sankou Souaré made the match of the day by scoring a… quadruple. The Montagnard, who even achieved this performance in 73′, could even have scored a fifth goal at the very end of the match. “It’s exceptional. It makes everyone happy, me and the club,” the scorer said after the match.
The draw scheduled for Wednesday
While the 5th round of the Coupe de France will mark the entry into the running of National clubs, therefore US Concarneau, the draw will be held this Wednesday at 7 p.m., announced the Ligue de Bretagne. It will even be performed by the Olympic kayak slalom vice-champion, Titouan Castryck.
