The accident occurred around 5:20 p.m. “A vehicle crashed into a stationary car at what appears to be an inappropriate speed. The occupant of this car was talking to two pedestrians. The impact caused the car to be thrown far away. The two pedestrians also suffered the shock,” said Wouter Bruyns, police spokesperson.
A 33-year-old man died at the scene after being resuscitated. The second pedestrian was seriously injured and taken to hospital in danger of death. The occupant of the hit vehicle was slightly injured.
“The driver of the approaching vehicle was driving under the influence of alcohol and tested positive for alcohol. He was arrested and his driving license was taken away for 15 days,” Mr Bruyns said.
Several vehicles were damaged in the accident. A pole next to the road was also damaged. Due to the damage, no traffic is possible. A traffic expert visits the site.
