Neom’s initial vision
In 2017, Saudi authorities presented Neom as a city of the future, a grandiose project located in the middle of the desert. Spanning more than 26,500 km² and costing $500 billion, this project is a centerpiece of the Saudi Vision 2030 plan.
The Line, a 170 kilometer long skyscraper, is one of Neom’s most ambitious features. This building will accommodate nearly nine million residents, offering an exceptional quality of life.

Recent videos show a reality very different from the initial futuristic vision. The promised green skyscrapers and forests are still not visible.

Neom claims to be ecological with a 0% carbon footprint, but the reality is more nuanced. The construction of this megalopolis requires an enormous amount of raw materials, increasing the energy footprint.
