Michkov gives the Bruins a hard time

Forward Matvei Michkov gave another glimpse of his immense talent, scoring twice in a 3-2 overtime victory for the Philadelphia Flyers against the Boston Bruins in a preseason game played Saturday night.

The rookie roused the Wells Fargo Center crowd with 68 seconds remaining in overtime by beating goalkeeper Joonas Korpisalo. WATCH IN MAIN VIDEO.

Earlier, he threaded the needle during a power play in the second period taking advantage of a pass from Olle Lycksell to create the deadlock at 2 all.

Furthermore, Michkov already seems to have the support of his teammates. Thus, captain Sean Couturier came to his defense in the first period after Billy Sweezey had roughed him up. The veteran thus threw down the gloves in front of the aggressor, to the great pleasure of the supporters of the City of Brotherly Love.

Rasmus Ristolainen was the other scorer for head coach John Tortorella’s men. In a losing cause, Hampus Lindholm and Matthew Poitras hit the target.

Fantilli top scorer

In Columbus, Adam Fantilli added a goal to his collection of exhibition games to lead the Blue Jackets to a 6-3 victory at the expense of the Buffalo Sabres.

The forward moved the strings in the third period to bring his total of goals to four since the start of the preparatory calendar. This is a National League high.

Among the winners, note the double from former Montreal Canadiens Sean Monahan in the middle period.
