Luxury hotel, cigarettes, spa… Naomi Campbell accused of squandering money from her Fashion for Relief charity

A Charity Commission investigation revealed on Thursday September 26, 2024 that Fashion for Relief, the charity founded by Naomi Campbell, had demonstrated “excessive spending”.

The latter founded the association in 2005 to raise funds for environmental and humanitarian causes.

Only 8.5% of funds spent on charity

The Charity Commission noted several cases of “poor governance“and of”poor financial management” of the association. In total, several thousand pounds collected were not paid. The report notes that between April 2016 and July 2022, only 8.5% of the funds collected were devoted to subsidies for charity More than £344,000 was recovered by the Commission, which was then redistributed to two other charities.

The investigation also found that unauthorized payments totaling £290,000 were made to a trustee of the charity, Bianka Hellmich, for consultancy services. The latter was also excluded from the charitable world for nine years. Veronica Chou, another member of the association, is excluded for four years.

“I did not have control of the association”
