Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was “grateful” this Friday, September 27, for his meeting “very productive” with former US President Donald Trump in New York. “I presented our victory plan to him and we discussed in detail the situation in Ukraine and the consequences of the war for our people,” he said in a message on X.

Indeed, a little earlier today, Donald Trump committed to “solve” the conflict in Ukraine in the event of victory in the American presidential election next November, following an interview which “should never have taken place, but we will resolve it”, according to the Republican candidate. China and Brazil warn against threats of use of nuclear weapons

China, Brazil and other countries of the South warned this Friday, September 27, against the threat of recourse to nuclear weapons, in a joint declaration published at the end of a ministerial meeting on Ukraine in margin of the UN General Assembly.

“We call for refraining from the use and threat of use of weapons of mass destruction, particularly nuclear, chemical and biological weapons,” they write a few days after statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin warning that his country could use nuclear weapons in the event of “massive launch” air attacks against Russia.

Russian strikes kill four in the south

Russian strikes killed three people this Friday, September 27 in a port town in the far southwest of Ukraine, near Romania, and another in the center of the country. “The Russians launched attack drones in the south of our region”wrote Oleg Kiper, governor of the Odessa region. Two elderly women and a man in his 70s were killed, he added. Eleven other people were injured, including a child, he said.

Although it is very far from the front, the place is sometimes targeted by Russian forces because of the port infrastructure it houses, crucial for the transit of goods. Fires broke out due to the attack, but were put out by firefighters, Oleg Kiper said. The governor released images showing a building engulfed in flames, partially destroyed and with blown out windows.
