After the huge success of Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch studio has a new story of feudal Japan to tell us, and a new heroine to introduce us to. Ghost of Yotei will be available in 2025 exclusively on PS5.
To close its State of Play in September 2024, Sony gave pride of place to the Sucker Punch studio to present its new game. Four years after the release of Ghost of Tsushima, acclaimed by critics and players alike, a new adventure taking place in feudal Japan was presented. Ghost of Yotei will be released in 2025 exclusively on PS5.
If we stay in the same universe, Ghost of Yotei is not the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. And for good reason, the adventure takes place 300 years later, in 1603, on the lands surrounding Mount Yotei in the Ezo region, today known as the Hokkaido archipelago. At that time, the region was completely beyond the control of Japan and the Samurai order, and its wild nature with varied environments was full of dangers.
In addition to this new region to explore, Ghost of Yotei will offer us to play as a new heroine wearing the ghost mask, Atsu. For now, Sucker Punch has not revealed any details about her story or what will animate her adventures, and we will have to be a little patient to find out more.
On the other hand, the studio specified that the strengths of the first game in the series would be preserved, and that the power of the PS5 would allow them to go much further in the quality of the environments. The work on the sky was particularly highlighted, as well as the effects of the wind on nature in general.
As for the gameplay, we will have to wait a little longer before having details. But improvements and new mechanics are planned, as well as new weapons. In her quest, Atsu will have to make many encounters, whether with secondary characters or animals.
