A tribute to honor the memory of Samuel Paty. Nearly four years after the assassination of the history teacher, the college where he taught in Conflans Sainte-Honorine in is in the process of being renamed in his name. A strong and necessary symbol.

Almost four years after Samuel Paty’s assassination, the college where he taught in Conflans Sainte-Honorine in Yvelines is about to be renamed in his name. The decision, which was validated Monday evening during the college’s board of directors, must still pass two votes: at the municipal and departmental level, and must be ratified in the coming weeks.

A “logical” decision

A strong and necessary symbol for Paul Marion, teacher and president of the association Les amis de Samuel Paty. “It’s something that is strong. It shows that the city of Conflans assumes its memory, its heritage, defends it, and is proud of it,” he assured. “We didn’t always have this feeling that the city assumed what had happened since it took a lot of time: more than four years before this change of name of the college was carried out.”

Speaking to Europe 1, he continued: “It’s not a done deal yet, but hey, it’s a very big step towards changing the name of the college. The college is really the place of transmission. So when a teacher dies in these circumstances, it seems completely logical to me that we change the name of the college.”
