UBB wins with the bonus against Racing 92! – News – Union Bègles (UBB )

UBB wins with the bonus 52-34 against Racing 92 in a sold-out Chaban. It takes second place in the standings just behind , who it will face next weekend.

UBB faced Racing 92 for this second reception of the season at Chaban. And if the first to score in this match were the Racingmen through Nolann Le Garrec on penalty (0-3; 6th). The & Blanc did not take long to respond to them, because two minutes later Damian Penaud was at the conclusion of a beautiful Bordeaux action and scored in the right corner after a shift well negotiated by LBB and Marko Gazzotti (5-3; 8th).

Driven by a Chaban once again sold out, the unleashed Girondins repeated the feat 3 minutes later, with the same protagonists. Louis Bielle-Biarrey served Damian Penaud at the end of the line for a double. Matthieu Jalibert converted and gave his team a 12-point lead after 11 minutes of play.

Yannick Bru’s players were unleashed, continued to attack at all costs and found the gap again in the 16th minute of play, LBB on a splendid foot pass from Damian Penaud went on to score his first try of the evening (17-3). Then two minutes later he saw double, making the difference all by himself on a foot play to follow for himself, well helped by the confusion of number 12 Lancaster. Matthieu Jalibert converted and UBB then led 24-3 after this perfect start to the match!

The Racingmen then tried to react with a try from Maxime Baudonne (24th), converted by Le Garrec, which brought his team back to 24-10. But, once again, the Girondins accelerated and it was Matthieu Jalibert who made the difference with a delicious little kick over the top for himself, and brought the score to 31-10 after conversion.

Just before the break, Nolann Le Garrec found the gap despite a well-positioned Girondins defence, and scored at ground level after a series of close-range playing time (37th). He converted this try himself and reduced the score somewhat at the break (31-17).

After the break, Maxime Lucu’s men did not let up and went back to attacking the Parisian end zone. After a great combination on a 5m lineout, it was Nicolas Depoortere who scored between the posts, well found by his partner Louis Bielle-Biarrey (44th; 38-17).

A few minutes later, the same LBB put pressure on Racing’s third line and managed to recover the ball, he then eluded the Parisian defenders and scored the 7th Girondin try of the evening (52nd). Matthieu Jalibert converted and made it 45-17 for UBB.

The pace of the match then dropped in intensity. The Racingmen got their hands on the ball, but were not really able to catch the Bordeaux defense out. Despite everything, Cameron Woki ended up scoring strongly for Racing 92 on the hour mark after several moments of play close to his forwards (45-22; 61st).

Louis Bielle-Biarrey, unstoppable, was very close to a hat-trick in the 68th minute on another little kick for himself, but was narrowly beaten in the in-goal area by a defensive comeback from the region. It was finally his partner Damian Penaud who scored on a ball carried in the 70th minute. A try that Matthieu Jalibert converted, making the score 52-22 for his team.

The end of the match was more disjointed. Lachlan Swinton first received a red card in the 72nd minute for a dangerous tackle on Max Spring. Then the Racingmen took advantage of this card and scored twice, through Clovis Le Bail (76th), then number 8 Dayimani (78th). Two tries that would not change anything on the outcome of the match or on the offensive bonus collected this evening by Bordeaux & Blanc who ultimately won 52-34.
