JThursday morning, Brian Riemer was still numbering his abatis when the shot went off. All alone. Three days before the minimum deadline according to all the most accurate observers’ forecasts.

A decision that, on the eve of the Sporting derby against Charleroi, surprised everyone, starting no doubt with the person concerned. More than the first defeat of the season, recorded on Tuesday against Genk (0-2), it was the distressing poverty of the game proposed by Anderlecht that precipitated the loss of the Danish coach. Neither the budget envelope supposedly revised upwards for the summer transfer window (failed), nor the qualification for the Europa League group stages, nor the absences, however crucial, of Jan Vertonghen and Thorgan Hazard, nor the lack of offensive solutions and even less the presence in the Top 6 after 7 days of competition (but with barely 12 points out of 21) could sufficiently fuel a plea in favor of a temporization with a view to better days.
