Marc Marquez has not shown this consistency for five years: “With normal conditions like in Misano…”

With back-to-back wins, Marc Márquez is in the best phase of his MotoGP season so far – having only missed out on the top four in a main race three times. This level of competitiveness is something he hasn’t seen since his last winning season.

When asked at a press conference if this was his most consistent period since the injuries he suffered in 2020, the eight-time world champion confirmed:

2021 was not bad, there was a period in Aragon, Austin and Misano that was not bad. But it is true that with normal conditions like we had in Misano, it was in 2019 – 2019 was another level.

Marquez expanded on his current form, acknowledging that there is still room for improvement: ‘I feel like I can play with my body, I’m starting to play more with the bike. There are still some weak points – for example at turn 11/12 Pecco [Bagnaia] is super fast, we have to figure that out for next weekend. I won’t be faster than him, but if we can be closer to him. There are still some things to discover, but every time you have more confidence, you are able to play better with the body and be faster’.
