In an interview with L’Equipe, Jalil Narjissi, Medhi’s father, spoke about his son’s disappearance on a beach in South Africa. He now hopes that justice will do its job quickly.

More than a month after the disappearance of Medhi Narjissi (17 years old) on a beach in South Africa, on August 7th at Dias Beach, while the French Rugby Federation conducted an internal investigation that incriminates the management in this sad affair, the family of the man who was training with the French U18 team, and in particular his father Jalil, is still in the middle of a nightmare. For L’Equipe, the latter returned to this terrible tragedy, he who hopes that justice will do its job quickly. I want the truth to be known, for justice to do its job, for those responsible to be judged and punished. They can no longer supervise. Some must go behind bars. “We haven’t received any message from them. Nothing. (…) Even if we are aware that she has a lot of work, I hope that justice will be swift. We need it,” declared the former hooker.

Jalil Narjissi: “Our life stopped on August 7”

“I want to understand why this disaster happened. It was not an accident. (…) I am very angry about the place where this disaster happened and everything that made a recovery session impossible there. The people responsible for this disaster are not taking responsibility and are passing the buck. This is cowardice. (…) They continue their lives, perhaps asking themselves questions and having problems before the courts. Our life stopped on August 7, Jalil Narjissi later confided to the French sports daily. (…) How can we prepare for this? There is no manual. Our life is shattered. Stade Toulousain was there before, during and after, really like a family.” While a tribute was paid to Medhi Narjissi before the clash between and last Sunday, the former hooker admitted that he was unable to stay for the match because it was “too difficult.”
