Sonatrach Chairman and CEO Rachid Hachichi, accompanied by a high-level delegation, is taking part in the Gastech global energy conference, which is being held from September 17 to 20 in Houston (United States), a group statement said yesterday.

The Gastech Exhibition and Conference is one of the world’s leading meetings on issues related to natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), hydrogen, climate technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), the energy industry, as well as low-carbon solutions.

The global meeting, which is attended by more than 50,000 participants from 125 countries, including major international players in the energy sector, as well as entrepreneurs and innovators, focuses on ways to address rapid changes in the energy sector and the development of strategies, according to the same source.

Furthermore, the conference focuses on the adoption of climate-related technologies to ensure secure and sustainable energy, in addition to implementing decisive measures to accelerate the design of a common global vision for the energy industry.

In its press release, Sonatrach stressed that its participation in Gastech aimed to affirm its “leading position as a reliable supplier and global strategic partner in the natural gas industry, a cornerstone of the energy transition policy, as well as its commitment to innovation and the development of technological solutions for a low-carbon energy industry.”

This objective is being achieved, the press release adds, through the adoption of a new climate strategy, focused on several aspects, such as the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the increase in the level of integration of renewable energies (RE), as well as the development of natural and technological solutions for carbon capture, in addition to the search for technological solutions for a low-carbon energy industry.

In this context, Sonatrach indicated that its participation in this conference also reflected its “significant efforts” in strengthening the sustainable energy transition at the level of its industrial installations, the press release concludes.
