This dual-fuel gas-hydrogen engine is unique in the world

Revealed as a world premiere at the IAA Transportation 2024 show in Hanover, FPT Industrial’s new N67 Hythane engine is powered by a mixture of gas and hydrogen.

A brand of the Iveco group, FPT Industrial continues to invest in the combustion engine. Considered one of the largest manufacturers of natural gas engines in the world, the Italian industrialist presents at the IAA Transportation fair in Hanover the new N67 Hythane engine. Presented as a prototype, the latter is equipped with a dual injection system for hydrogen and natural gas. According to the manufacturer, the mixture of the two fuels makes it possible to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% compared to a “conventional” natural gas engine.

Suitable for both CNG and LNG, the N67 Hythane develops up to 280 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque. For the time being, it remains presented as a prototype. It could eventually be integrated into the Iveco heavy-duty range.

XCursor 13: a 520 horsepower multi-energy engine

For FPT Industrial, the IAA show in Hanover was also an opportunity to present a new range of 100% hydrogen engines, as well as its new multi-fuel block, the XCursor 13. Designed on a single base for maximum standardization of components, it is available in several versions: diesel, CNG/bioCNG, hydrogen and renewable fuels.

Less powerful than the diesel version, capable of developing up to 600 horsepower, the gas version offers up to 520 horsepower and 2500 Nm of torque.
