Dozens of hectares of vegetation caught fire again this weekend in the Pyrénées-Orientales

Flames have again ravaged dozens of hectares of vegetation this weekend in the Pyrénées-Orientales. While the fire at the foot of Canigou, which ravaged 280 hectares in the commune of Castelnou, was declared under control on Saturday morning, the Catalan firefighters had no respite with four fires breaking out on Saturday. The A9 motorway even had to be temporarily closed in both directions.

And just yesterday another fire broke out near the motorway near Saint-Estève. Controlled at 7pm, it preceded two other fires this time in just behind the Porte d’Espagne shopping centre. 3,000 m2 went up in smoke.

Carole Delga “dismayed” by the indictment of two departmental elected officials from Aude

In a press release, the president of the region Carole Delga expressed her “consternation” after learning of the indictment of two Aude deputies who had previously been the subject of a defamation complaint by three Rassemblement National deputies from the department. The woman, who is also president of Régions de , denounces in particular a political manipulation.

As a reminder, the Aude departmental elected officials Hervé Baro and Kattalin Fortuné were notified of their indictment for defamation last week. The latter had been the target of a complaint filed by the deputies Christophe Barthès, Frédéric Falcon and Julien Rancoule two years ago. A complaint filed following a Facebook publication by the department’s elected officials which pointed out “the resurgence of the fascist ideologies of the extreme right”, while making a link with the three deputies of the National Rally. On X, Christophe Barthès said he welcomed this indictment and indicated that he and his colleagues will not let anything go by.


Suspension of Immaculate Conception principal continues to divide
