On Wednesday August 16, 2023, a motorcyclist lost his life in a collision with a utility vehicle at the exit ramp of the two lanes in the Caen – Falaise direction, near Cauvicourt (Calvados). The biker, Adrien Lesaulnier, 37, died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the utility vehicle escaped unscathed.

The accident occurred in a place known for its dangerousness and lack of visibility. “It’s not the first time an accident has happened here. A pile-up between several cars has already taken place at this location, a few months ago”says the mayor of Cauvicourt, Vanessa Dupuy.

Moto2 mechanic

Passionate about motorcycles, Adrien Lesaulnier lived in Fresnay-le-Puceux where he also ran a motorcycle mechanics garage. After studying in the field, notably at Le Mans (Sarthe), he has, for fifteen years, officiated on circuits around the world in the paddock of Moto2, the second division of the discipline.

The announcement of his death moved across the Atlantic, particularly among his former American Racing Moto2 teammates who announced on their networks that they will pay tribute to him during the races over the coming weekend. “He will be in our thoughts during the race”they wrote.

In 2021, he had decided to stop racing but continued motorcycle mechanics in Fresney-le-Puceux. “It’s a great loss for the community. regrets Jean-Pol Chavaria, the mayor of the town. He was someone very easy to live with and integrated into the community. His work was appreciated by local bikers. »
