A 10-year-old girl is fighting for her life in Belgium after the security barrier at an amusement park ride in Manage opened mid-ride, also ejecting six other people on Sunday.
“Everyone was on the ground and people were screaming. The boy I took care of, his mom, she didn’t know what to do. It’s really a moment when you don’t know what to do, ”testified Julien, who was there with his children and his wife during the accident, at the microphone of RTL info.
The seven injured, who took place aboard a carousel called the “Rock n’roll”, would have been ejected from a height of 3.5 meters, according to the French media.
Three of them suffered more serious injuries, including fractures and trauma, and a 10-year-old girl is said to be between life and death, who suffered a major skull fracture, according to the report of Fabien Guérisse, medical director, called to the scene.
“I saw the barrier open. I didn’t see everything, but I saw a kid who held her, but unfortunately she let go, and she fell. And then I saw everyone get up and walk over there. It was shocking, impressive,” another witness told RTL info.
According to the Belgian media 7sur7, the attraction would consist of a nacelle which would perform movements like a pendulum, from front to back.
It would be the second accident to occur in an amusement park in Belgium in less than two weeks, while a teenager would have lost his life in the Hérault in a funfair the previous week, according to “France Ouest”.
