A 29-year-old man from Spain has confessed to Thai police that he killed and dismembered the body of a man on the tourist island of Koh Phangan in the south of the country. It was the authorities who communicated the details on Saturday.

Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, who arrived in Thailand on July 31 for tourism, had initially denied any involvement in the tragedy, according to the police, which specifies that the investigation is continuing.

Body parts found in landfill

Body parts, including hips and thighs, were found in a landfill on Thursday. According to the authorities, they would belong to a 44-year-old plastic surgeon, Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, an acquaintance of the arrested Spanish tourist.

Police also searched a hotel room where they believe the murder took place. DNA samples of various kinds were taken there and will have to be tested.

Chef Daniel Bronchalo is also the son of Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho Agirre and actress Silvia Bronchalo, according to the Bangkok Post.
