A collision between a car and a truck took place on the AP-7 which connects Spain to the border with France. Traffic had to be stopped for several hours due to the presence of pigs on the road.

Dozens of pigs frolicking near cars on a highway. The images are incredible. After an accident on Monday July 31 between a car and a truck, a highway north of Barcelona was invaded…by dozens of pigs.

The truck, loaded with the animals, was on the AP-7 motorway, also known as the Mediterranean route, which connects Spain to France, reports the newspaper La Vanguardia. The violent collision between the two vehicles would have caused the doors of the livestock truck to open.

Almost 15 kilometers of traffic jams

The accident, which occurred near Santa Perpetua de Mogoda in Catalonia, led to the closure of the road axis in both directions, due to the presence of animals, causing at the same time traffic jams of up to 14 kilometers .

According to the Catalan authorities, the truck overturned in the accident and the cabin of the vehicle caught fire. Firefighters managed to put out the blaze after mobilizing eight ground crews aided by a helicopter. In photos shared on social networks by witnesses, we can observe fire trucks trying to block the road to the pigs to prevent them from fleeing.

The causes of the accident remain unknown at this time. After nine hours, the evacuation of the animals was completed and a crane intervened to remove the heavy weight which was blocking the road.
