It is a tradition on the eve of 24 hours of Le Mans : there Grand Parade of Pilots will take place in the city center, this Friday, June 9, 2023, the day before the race. Here’s where to stand to enjoy it.
What time does the parade start?
The parade will start at 2:00 p.m. (not 5:00 p.m. as usual).
It is advisable to arrive early on site: several streets will be closed to traffic and parkings will be forbidden access.
The parade route
Vehicles taking part in the parade will be parked in the Quinconces car park (see map below). They will leave from the place des Jacobins, to take the avenue Pierre Mendès France. Place des Comtes du Maine, the parade will turn right towards Place de la République, before going down Rue Victor Bonhommet.
Place de l’Eperon, the procession will turn right again to join the Jacobins by avenue Rostov-sur-le-Don.
Where are the best vantage points?
Stands are set up at the Jacobins and Place de la République.
Avenue Mendès France offers a good view of the parade, as does Avenue Rostov-sur-le-Don.
Pedestrian crossings are arranged at regular intervals to cross the route, protected by barriers.
A signing area will be set up towards the end of the route, on Avenue Rostov-sur-le-Don, between Place de l’Eperon and the town hall. Spectators will be able to approach the drivers for autographs and selfies.
Risks of thunderstorms on the Sarthe
A few hours before the demonstration, the weather report was still uncertain: Météo-France predicts the risk of thunderstorms on the Sarthe during the afternoon.
