The historian and specialist in the history of the deportation of Jews from , Alexandre Doulut, was the guest of the franceinfo morning show, Monday January 27.

An international tribute is organized at 4 p.m. at the entrance to the former death camp in Poland, which several survivors will attend. “This will probably be the last time that we have so many and at the same time few survivors”declares Alexandre Doulut on franceinfo. For the historian, the survivors “are all over 90 years old today. Today, we are faced with young girls and young men who are almost a hundred years old.”

Many of these survivors “launched into testimony late in life”. “It happened about twenty years ago. For many victims, it became both a mission and a duty. It is the duty that all survivors imposed on themselves”he explains.

As for young people: “At first, they are a little intimidated by the weight of History. There is the emotional charge regarding the event. Afterwards, they are quite shy. They avoid asking frank questions”says Alexandre Doulut.
