The revival of cult games from the 1990s continues on television. Huge entertainment for millions of fans makes its big return on this date…
There was A golden familypresented by Camille Combal on TF1, The Right Price et The Weakest Linkrelaunched on M6 by Eric Antoine and Vincent Dedienne, without forgetting the bigdil which triumphs on RMC Story, with a Vincent Lagaf who is experiencing a new youth. Cult games from the 1990s are popular and have made a resounding return to television in recent months. Another of these games, a real juggernaut of the genre in its time, will also return to screens this week.
And the ambitions are enormous since this entertainment presented by Christian Morin brought together up to 8 million viewers on TF1 before the 8 p.m. news, between 1987 and 1997. Relaunched for the first time between 2006 and 2011 by Christophe Dechavanne, it still had peaked at 7 million viewers, shortly after its 500th issue in November 2007, before disappearing after a final attempt in 2012.
It is now M6 which is in charge of relaunching the program in 2025, several decades after its peak. And the host Eric Antoine, a magician in his spare time, was once again chosen to restore luster to the famous game, to the delight of nostalgic viewers. It is obviously a question of The Wheel of Fortune, created in the United States under the name “Wheel of Fortune”.
-The game is still based on a Ferris wheel to spin, puzzles to solve and lots of gifts to win. To revive memories, the decor, sound effects and many details have been preserved, such as the terrible “bankruptcy” which reduces all winnings to zero. New game mechanics have also been imagined. “The champion”, in other words the finalist of the show, will be directly qualified each day to participate in that of the next day. All while retaining your gains, on the model of 12 midday shots.
New boxes are also appearing in the famous Wheel of Fortunesuch as “The exchange” which will allow you to exchange your prize pool with an opponent, “The divider” which will halve a competitor’s prize pool, or “The mini-wheel”, a small personal wheel from Eric Antoine offering various surprises (including sometimes a magic trick of course). Personalities will also be invited occasionally for special broadcasts. Candidates can win up to 20,000 euros or a dream trip to the other side of the world.
M6 did not specify, however, whether the presenter will be accompanied by a busty co-host as was the case in the past (from ex-coco-girls at the beginning of the program to top model Victoria Silvstedt at the time Dechavanne). We can bet that in 2025, this little sexist detail will have been forgotten. Response from the first broadcast, scheduled for Monday January 27, from 5:30 p.m. The game will then be broadcast Monday through Friday at the same time.
