At least one damaged submarine cable in the Baltic Sea
The Swedish Prime Minister Announces that a submarine cable connecting Sweden and Latvia has been damaged. This new incident follows a series of similar problems in the Baltic Sea.

Latvia for its part Announces having dispatched a warship to the place of damage, specifying having identified a “suspicious ship”, Michalis San, as well as two other ships, in the area.

declares the commander of the Latvian navy, Maris Polencs, at a press conference.
-Damage took place in Swedish territorial waters at a depth of at least 50 meters, according to officials.
“Disturbances in data transmission services” took place, said the National Radio and Television Center of Latvia (LVRTC), adding that replacement solutions had been found and that end users would not be allocated.
“Based on current findings, we assume that the cable has been considerably damaged by external factors,” the company said in a statement. “LVRTC has initiated criminal procedure actions”.
“Sweden, Latvia and NATO cooperate this case closely. Sweden will bring the necessary capacities ”for the needs of the investigation, adds the Swedish Prime Minister.
