According to information from a police source on Friday, the fire broke out around 3:00 p.m. in an apartment located on the 3rd floor of a recently constructed four-story building.
The origin of the fire is accidental, according to the first elements of the investigation
The tenant and two of her young children were poisoned by the fumes. According to a second police source, the girls, then in cardio-respiratory arrest, were resuscitated by firefighters and transported to a Parisian hospital.

“These two children unfortunately died in the evening,” wrote the mayor of Melun Kadir Mebarek in a press release on Saturday, expressing his “immense sadness”.
The mother, aged 32, was more lightly poisoned and hospitalized. Her two other children were at school at the time of the tragedy.

“The city of Melun will do everything possible to support the mother in this ordeal, whether for her rehousing or for the support she will need in the weeks and months to come,” assured the councilor. The fire was probably of accidental origin, according to the first elements of the investigation.
