On behalf of the entire municipal team and all the people of Bordeaux, I offer my condolences to his loved ones, his wife and his son.”

He had formed an alliance in the second round with Thomas Cazenave, representing the Macronist camp, but had failed to retain the town hall on the right, a first in Bordeaux in the history of the Fifth Republic. The Renaissance deputy wanted to highlight on X the loss of a politician who «had Bordeaux pinned to his body».

Nicolas Florian was seeking a new candidacy in 2026

Since this defeat, he sat in the municipal opposition and pleaded for a new alliance between Les Républicains and Renaissance with a view to the municipal elections of 2026. Born in Lot-et-Garonne in Marmande and settled in Bordeaux since his childhood, Nicolas Florian had a degree in business law.

He began his political career as a parliamentary assistant to an RPR deputy before becoming a municipal representative in Villenave-d’Ornon at the age of 25. He then held several local mandates, including that of Deputy for Finance and Human Resources under Alain Juppé. He tried twice to be elected deputy, but lost in 2012 and 2017.

Close to Valérie Pécresse and open to broad political alliances, he notably welcomed Guillaume Chaban-Delmas, grandson of Jacques Chaban-Delmas, on his list in 2020.

During his time at the head of Bordeaux, he positioned himself as an “everyday mayor”, while striving to distance himself from historical figures of the city like Jacques Chaban-Delmas and Alain Juppé.
