Algeria Foot– The Executive Office of the African Football Confederation (CAF) met this Sunday in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, to ratify the list of candidates for the elections of its executive committee. This decision follows the recommendations of the CAF governance committee, responsible for validating the files of the suitors in accordance with article 44 of the organization’s statutes. Walid Sadi’s file has been validated.

Winwinthe secretary general of the CAF, the Congolese Véron Mosengo-Momba, presented the conclusions of the governance committee to the members of the Executive Bureau. The latter unanimously approved the list of candidates selected for the elections scheduled for March 12 in Cairo, Egypt.
Candidates validated by CAF
The official list includes several major names in African football, distributed according to the geographic areas of CAF. Here are the designated candidates:
- Wallace John Kariapresident of the Tanzanian Football Federation, was appointed without opposition to represent East and Central Africa.
- Mustapha Ishola Rajjpresident of the Liberian Football Federation, was also confirmed by acclamation to represent West Africa (Zone A).
- Curtpresident of the Ghanaian football federation, obtained validation for West Africa (Zone B).
- Walid Sadipresident of the Algerian Football Federation, represents the North African region.
Regarding the southern area of Africa, four candidates will compete for two available places:
- Soavespresident of the Mauritian Football Federation.
- Faizal SidatPresident of the Mozambican Football Federation.
- Alfred Randriamanampisoapresident of the Malagasy Football Federation.
- Elvis Chettypresident of the Seychellois Football Federation.
The female representation and the Samuel Eto’o case
For the headquarters reserved for women, Bestpresident of the Congolese club Vita Club, presents herself as a single candidate. His commitment to the development of women’s football in Africa has been hailed, which strengthens his position to win this symbolic seat.
Another notable point concerns the situation of the former Cameroonian footballer Samuel Eto’o. Although some rumors indicate that he would have submitted his candidacy to represent Central Africa, his validation remains suspended from a decision of the Arbitral Sports Tribunal (CAS). Indeed, the CAF governance committee rejected its file, invoking non-compliance criteria.

The final list of candidates will be communicated to CAF member federations and regional unions in the coming hours, in accordance with the provisions of article 18, paragraph 8, of CAF statutes. These elections, scheduled for March 12, 2025 in Cairo, will be a key moment to define the future of African football governance.
With the active participation of Algeria, in particular through Walid Sadi, this ballot promises to be decisive to strengthen the presence and influence of North Africa in the decision -making bodies of continental football.
