Woman found dead in Landerneau: her 36-year-old son indicted for murder

She was found dead on Thursday January 23 at her home in Landerneau (Finistère) with serious injuries to her head and face. The son of this woman, aged 64, was indicted for murder in her ascendant and placed in pre-trial detention, public prosecutor Camille Miansoni said in a press release this Sunday.

The man, aged 36, was arrested Friday in a hotel in and placed in police custody, said Camille Miansoni. During his hearing, he admitted to having hit his mother, with whom he had been living for several months, with a stone, causing her death.

“On the other hand, he did not describe any argument with the victim before the act. No motive for this act has been explained,” added the prosecutor. While in police custody, the man described “a chaotic life journey, particularly on a psychological level”, according to Camille Miansoni. The alert was given to the gendarmerie on Thursday by the victim’s mother, worried about not having any sign of life from her daughter “for several days”.

The gendarmes then went to his home and discovered his “lifeless body” as well as “traces of blood in the bedroom”, the prosecutor indicated. The victim suffered “heavy traumatic injuries to the skull and face,” according to a forensic doctor.

“The death appeared to go back several days without any possibility of being able to determine the precise date,” according to the prosecutor. An autopsy is to be carried out on Monday. The sixty-year-old’s son, placed in pre-trial detention, faces life imprisonment, recalls the prosecutor.
