Clarkson didn’t let his winnings change his professional routine. The day after his victory, he was back on the field, repairing pipes on a cold day. “ I’m too young to stop working.” he explains. For him, money should not rhyme with idleness. His father reinforces him in this vision, recalling that many millionaires continue to exercise professional activity.

Despite his wisdom, James allows himself a few extras such as a trip to Cape Verde with his girlfriend, the purchase of two designer jackets, a pass to follow Manchester City as well as a gift of a luxury bag to his partner. His main objective is to help his family, in particular by participating in the repayment of his parents’ loan. At the microphone of Guardian, he indicated:
I was out in the cold fixing blocked pipes the day after I found out I’d won. It’s a bit sad, but it’s reality. I’m not going to stop working, I’m too young. I know some people must think I’m crazy for continuing the work, but I want to, and obviously there will be a nice vacation in between. I need a purpose in life and my dad wouldn’t let me not work anyway. He says there are plenty of millionaires still working, and we need a reason to get up every day.
