Words to celebrate the retirement of Pierre Hémon, coordinating doctor for Lannion nursing homes.
But it wasn’t the first time the doctor said goodbye to his patients. “I set up as a general practitioner in Lannion in 1974,” says the person concerned. In 2014, after forty years in the service of the Lannionnais, the practitioner decides to bow out… or almost. The former director of the nursing home, Thierry Le Gall, offered him the position.
“I was afraid of being bored, so I said yes! » Pierre Hémon therefore becomes the referring doctor for the Sainte-Anne and Paul-Hernot nursing homes. It is his responsibility to carry out geriatric assessments prior to the acceptance of residents into these establishments, but also to intervene in the event of a problem. “ I don’t do care. If a resident has a health problem, I notify the attending physician and if he is not available, and he authorizes me, I intervene. »
170 « patients »
-No less than 170 patients were therefore under the responsibility of Pierre Hémon who worked in the two establishments four mornings per week. Aged 77, the doctor is not yet fully retired. “ My practice in Lannion was taken over by Doctor Petit. He asked me to replace him for a week so he could take a week’s vacation! I am very excited to reunite with my former patients. »
The doctor will also try teleconsultation. “I had my first patient this week, it went well. I don’t really want to stop. » Within the Lannion nursing homes, Doctor Judith Kirchner will take over with the residents.
