A sequence which promises to be particularly moving. This Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 7:30 p.m. on TF1, viewers of “Sept à quatre” will be able to find a previously unpublished “Portrait of the week” by Audrey Crespo-Mara. For this one, the interviewer met Charles Biétry, the former journalist and director of Sports at Canal +. The man, now 81 years old, suffers from Charcot’s disease, a pathology that prevents him from speaking.
“The words are in my head”
In the daily “Le Parisien” which is published today, Charles Biétry explains: “The words are in my head and I can’t get them out, so we cower and risk losing contact with the outside world.”. In our colleague’s article, we learn that the man who became president of Paris SG in 1998 following Michel Denisot only communicates using a computer. Also, for the show “Sept à quatre” hosted by Harry Roselmack, his voice was recreated by artificial intelligence.
“It is a courageous and luminous testimony, an ode to the life that he gives us. His fight to continue laughing with his family, until the end, the memories of a happy professional life, and his disappointed hopes on the end of life bill. He talks about the measures he took to remain master of his destiny until the end… I can assure you that none of us will forget this precious moment. Charles, with his strength of life, amazed everyone”, confided Audrey Crespo-Mara to our colleague from “Parisien”.

Concretely, for the interview to see the light of day, Thierry Ardisson’s partner had to send her questions beforehand to Charles Biétry. The latter provided his answers in writing and they were then sent into artificial intelligence software. Software which was able to reproduce the octogenarian’s voice “identically, with his agreement”.
