The Herminia storm Arrived on the west coast of France, this Sunday, January 26, causing violent winds and rains in Normandy. Winds up to 126 km/h were noted in Granville (Manche). The departments of Calvados and Orne are placed in orange alert for floods until Monday and the whole region is in yellow vigilance for wind for two days.

As of Saturday, rivers overwhelmed after a night of heavy rains, as in Beuvron-en-Auge (Calvados) where the residents had their feet in the water in the afternoon. Lotissements were flooded the same day in Argentia (Calvados), water from the river of the mutance penetrating on the ground floor of certain houses. In the village, LEs inhabitants have helped themselves to scop and place sandbags in front of the entrance doors.

The municipalities of Mézidon-Vallée-d’auge and Saint-Pierre-en-Auge, near (Calvados), saw several of their roads and their fields being invaded by water. In Switzerland Normandy, the Orne has come out of its bed in the Clecy sector (Calvados), flooding several buildings. Less significant overflows have been observed in Condé-en-Normandie (Calvados). The Calvados and Ornaises municipalities located by the river, in particular those crossed by the Orne river, remain on surveillance until Monday.

On the north side of the Seine, river water overflows took place in the sector of Gournay-en-Bray (Seine-Maritime) in the morning of Sunday without causing major damage.

This situation impacts rail transport, the SNCF having announced train cuts on Sunday evening and Monday morning. On the Calix viaduct, on the peripheral boulevard, the speed was limited to 50 km/h. Vehicles more than two meters high are prohibited from circulating there until further notice.
