The fight remained fierce in the third set until the sixth game where Sinner made his second break of the match to lead 4-2, then 5-2 on his serve. Zverev delayed the deadline by returning to 5-3 before Sinner validated his victory on his first match point (6-3)

At 23, Sinner won the third Grand Slam tournament of his career, the second in Melbourne where he opened his account last year. He also won at the US Open in 2024. Zverev, 27, will still have to wait before getting his hands on his first Grand Slam tournament where he fails for the third time in the final after the US Open in 2020 and Roland-Garros in 2024.
