The lull is still far away on the flood front in Ille-et-Vilaine. This Sunday, January 26, the Meu, the Ille, the Vilaine upstream, the Seiche and the Vilaine median were all placed on organ vigilance by Vigicrues. The Vilaine aval and the Oust are currently on yellow alert. After the significant accumulations of the last few days, the soils are saturated and the precipitation is swelling the watercourses. The calm of the night will give way to more rain during the day on Sunday, with the passage of storm Hermina. Levels should therefore start to rise again or remain stable this Sunday and in the coming days.
In the Breton capital, “the rise in water will continue this Sunday, particularly in the areas of the Canal de l’Ille”, indicates the City in a press release. Part of the sector, located to the north of the town, towards the Saint-Martin meadows, was already with its feet in the water on Saturday. Several streets were evacuated in La Motte-Brûlon. Difficulties were also noted further west, around Saint-Cyr Park and in Apigné. Two gymnasiums were opened to accommodate the victims*.
At the department level, several consequences have been reported. On Saturday, several small secondary roads, mainly to the west of Rennes, had to be closed to traffic during the day on Saturday. The RN 24 was cut at Mordelle. In the evening of this Sunday, train traffic will also be interrupted between Rennes and Saint-Malo, and slowed down on the Rennes – Saint-Brieuc and Rennes-Vannes lines.
* These are the Jules Isaac gymnasiums, located at 9 rue du Morbihan, and Constant-Véron, located at 1 rue Constant-Véron.
