Research is underway on rue du 10 April, in the Marengo sector, to find out if occupants were in this abandoned and poorly maintained house whose first floor collapsed.
Dozens of firefighters are on site and an important device is deployed at the foot of the José-Cabanis media library in Toulouse. A one floor house, located rue du 10 April, collapsed in the night, around 5 a.m. This building, which is at the bottom of a courtyard, had long been abandoned.
About sixty firefighters were on site, with many vehicles and a command PC. They deployed large means, especially cynophiles and drones, to verify that no one was under the rubble. Because according to the neighbors, this house, was sometimes squatted. After several passages from dogs that had not sniffed odors, the risk of having victims seems to be dismissed.
-The specialists in buildings of the departmental fire and rescue service are on site, as well as those of the town hall. Four neighboring buildings and their dozen occupants were evacuated. “A diagnosis to assess the weaknesses of neighboring buildings is underway. The building that collapsed was not maintained,” said François Chauvet, the director of population protection at the Toulouse town hall. A decree will be made as soon as this diagnosis is made.
In the meantime, access to the sector was cut off and will be the time that firefighters work ends.
