On the afternoon of February 22, 2021, the accused, aged 16 at the time, went to Saint-Chéron with five young people to do battle with other adolescents. A fight then broke out between these six young boys aged 14 to 18, from Dourdan, about ten kilometers to the west, and local teenagers.
Lilibelle, a 14-year-old girl who tried to intervene, was stabbed in the lower stomach. She died in the evening from internal bleeding.
Returned in June 2023 to the Essonne juvenile court, the accused, now aged 20, appears alone from Monday for murder of a minor under 15 years old. According to the order for reference, he first described the stabbing as an “involuntary gesture” before recognizing “its voluntary nature”.
He was also referred, like the five other participants in the brawl, to the juvenile court for aggravated violence and participation in a group with the aim of committing violence. These five young people will also be judged for failure to assist a person in danger.
-“The accused destroyed their lives”
The rivalry between these young people from Dourdan and Saint-Chéron dates back to the summer of 2020, “against a backdrop of messages, insults and provocations on social networks”, indicated the public prosecutor of Évry at the time of the facts. “My clients have been waiting for this trial for four years, the accused destroyed their lives by killing Lilibelle in cold blood,” declared Me Sébastien Noachovitch, lawyer for the victim’s family.
“They are counting on exemplary justice to begin to mourn their daughter,” added the council. The family wants the proceedings to be public, a point which will be discussed at the start of the hearing. Me Romain Giraud, who defends the accused, indicated “reserve his conclusions” to the Assize Court.
