The Herminia depression brings strong winds as well as rain. Nine departments in France are on orange alert, Sunday January 26, including five for a risk of violent winds, from eight a.m., warns Météo-France: these are Rhône, Finistère, Côtes-d’ Armor, Pyrénées-Atlantique and Hautes-Pyrénées. Morbihan will be placed on orange “rain flood” alert from 6 p.m., while Ille-et-Vilaine, Mayenne and Calvados are still on alert for a risk of flooding.
-“All the tributaries of the upstream basin of the Vilaine are reacting to the rains of the previous two days” and “should start to rise again due to the rains expected on Sunday”warns the Vigicrues organization, while in Normandy, “Significant floods are spreading to the Orne and Dives where levels will remain high.” Finally, the moderate rains of this day will keep Mayenne at “high levels”, according to Vigicrues.
Regarding the orange vigilance for the risk of wind concerning the two Breton departments, “Gusts of around 130 km/h on the coasts and close to 100 km/h inland are expected”according to the meteorological agency, which evokes a “frontal passage associated with Herminia”.
In the two Pyrenean departments, gusts could reach “110 to 120 km/h in medium mountains as well as locally in valleys”. With peaks of more than 150 km/h are possible on “some exposed ridges or passes”.
Finally, winds of “100 to 110 km/h” are expected in the Lyon region from the evening, according to Météo-France, which warns that the orange alert in the Rhône could be extended to the entire area.
