To consolidate their place in the top 6, the Nîmes must beat Geneva on Saturday during the 16th day of Nationale 2.
They are ten years old and, as sung by Alain Souchon, the Swiss from Servette Genève have “tarted” a few, in gules, at recess… In ten years, they have actually gone from the 4th series to the Nationale 2, conquering four French championship titles in the process (3rd series in 2015, 2nd series in 2016, Promotion Honor in 2018, Federal 1 in 2024).
The 16th day and the ranking of pool 1 of Nationale 2
Already 10 victories for Servette
Servette Genève is therefore no longer a curiosity for its opponents. For more than ten years now, its Rugby section, relaunched in 2014, has been racing through the various French championships at its request, to progress more quickly and continues to discover territories further and further away from its Geneva region.
The adventure seems far from over. At the start of the season, Servette manager Clément Fromont admitted: “Given the configuration of Pool A and its homogeneity, the objective is to ensure maintenance as quickly as possible.”
-After ten victories, a draw and four defeats, and a third place in the standings, the objective has largely been achieved. Looking towards the top of the table, with dreams of the final phase in mind, the Geneva players will present themselves to Kaufmann this evening without much pressure, but with the desire to continue this wonderful journey.
Five points difference between the two teams
At RC Nîmes, if necessary, we insist on “l’importance” of this meeting, described as “match international” by the club’s communications department. “As the regular phases approach, this Geneva reception is an event in itselfexplains the president of the RCN, Steeve Calligaro. The homogeneity of the group, the sixth against the third, two teams separated by only five points, there is no shortage of interest. It’s a toss-up match.”
As proof, the excitement and mobilization of the club around this poster with, from midday, a lunch for all the volunteers and training for the rugby school moved to the beginning of the afternoon with a tasting of cakes kings. Way to warm up your voice.
