Neymar’s return to Santos is looking more and more likely. Negotiations to terminate his contract with Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia are progressing well, according to a source. Once released from his commitments to the Saudi club, Neymar could return to the team where he made his debut.
Neymar is currently under contract with Al Hilal until June 2025, receiving around 100 million euros per year, an amount unattainable for Santos. To facilitate his return, he and his father are expected to take preliminary steps by joining an investment fund to acquire a share of the Brazilian club. As the source indicates, this would allow Santos to offer a more attractive contract to the player.
Al Hilal had paid 90 million euros for Neymar in August 2023. However, due to a serious injury suffered during a match with Brazil, he limited his appearances. He was injured on October 17, 2023 against Uruguay and did not return to the field until October 21. Unfortunately, he was injured again on November 4 during a Champions League match against Esteghlal. Although this new injury is less serious, he has not yet returned to the field. Since his arrival at Al Hilal, Neymar has only played seven official matches.

Being currently registered only for the Champions League, Al Hilal will have to release one of their other foreign players to allow Neymar to participate in the Saudi league. If his transfer to Santos materializes, this would avoid an additional complication for the Saudi club.
